Washington Park, lovingly nicknamed “Wash Park”, is best known by its lush park that bears its name. Any given Sunday one can find several Denverites playing volleyball, picnicking, running and wrestling with their dogs… Beautiful, wide-open spaces and two lakes characterize the landscape, and an indoor pool and gym facilities at the recently renovated rec center are just some of the recreational opportunities available. The park's colorful flower beds along Downing Street are some of Wash Park's best known summer features.
Washington Park remains a very popular urban neighborhood because of its central location, its closeness to the park, and its access to several commercial business areas. Washington Park is located in south central Denver. The park is bordered by Virginia Avenue on the north, Downing Street on the west, Louisiana Avenue on the south, and Franklin street on the east. It covers 165 acres making it one of the largest parks in Denver. Click here for more info.
